I had a lot of fun making this video presentation for class. I actually had thirty minutes of footage before it took me a whole day to edit. I would like to thank everyone again that took their time to participate in this video.

Here's the link to my video presentation: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r0pCCGZ0n-o

Enjoy! I hope everyone liked it.

  • Urgent: MJ, Please Read

What ever happened to F.U.B.U.? The brand that stood for, For Us By Us, apparently fell off the face of the earth almost 10 years ago. Every year it seems that a fashion brand disappears. Maybe they don’t disappear but people stop buying their products. Fashion is a competitive business because style constantly changes. People get tired of certain brands and then new brands emerge. My favorite brand since high school has been the Jordan Brand. It started with Michael Jordan and his subsidiary shoe line with Nike, and now is recognized as one of the top brands in sports fashion.

Unfortunately, for the past year, I have hated almost everything that the Jordan Brand has done. I say the Jordan Brand because Michael Jordan is the name behind the brand but not the head decision maker. The person in charge of Jordan Brand is Gentry Humphrey. I don’t believe that he has been working to save the brand but out to make a quick buck.

Mr. Humphrey has been doing too much in my opinion. I feel that he knows that every fashion brand eventually fades away and that is why he is putting so much emphasis on over killing. I use the term over killing to mean that he wants to put everything out so that they sell as much as they can until everyone is sick of their merchandise. I hope Michael Jordan sees what Mr. Humphrey is doing and puts a stop to it. If not, then Air Jordan will stay only in the history books and not on the feet of people around the world.

  • Black Friday

Last night, I went to the Great Mall around 11p.m. and there were already people lined up in front of every entrance of the mall. My friends and I decided to stand in line at the food court entrance. At 11:30, I counted at least 221 people in our line. That’s 221 people waiting to save an extra buck or two at this midnight sales event.

I couldn't wait any longer to go inside the mall. Suddenly, I noticed a few people were entering from an emergency exit by the garbage bins and I quickly pointed it out to my friends. We left our place in line to take a chance of entering before the mall was supposed to be opened. We were not sure if this was only an employee entrance or not. Luckily, we got in with no problems.

For the next 10 minutes we walked around the mall taunting the patrons outside who waited with anticipation. They looked very angry that we got in before them. After all the taunting we decided to stand in front of Old Navy.

At the strike of midnight, we saw a swarm of shoppers enter the mall. When Old Navy opened, everyone pushed and shoved their way into the store. Once in the store, I couldn't believe what I saw. There were people arguing, running through the store, and making a mess by throwing clothes around as if there was a pot of gold beneath it all. Shoppers were also bumping into each other like savings were important than civility.

Shoppers didn't differ by store. Every store that had a good sales advertisement in their window had a big crowd inside it. As my friends and I walked around the mall, I noticed that I have never seen so many people in the mall all at one time. We couldn't take it any longer being in the mall surrounded by all these greedy people.

In the end, my friends and I went home empty handed. The stores were just too crowded to shop in. Even when I wanted to purchase something I wasn't in the mood to wait in line for half-hour. I know it would take that long because I was in a line at Banana Republic for 15 minutes and I barely got to the middle of it. I have come to the conclusion that Black Friday is a day for savings and an excuse to be a vulture in shopping establishments. I guess the spirit of Christmas doesn't start until after Black Friday.

  • No Education = No Life

Today, I went to the library right after class. I chose to study on the eighth floor in the library because usually it is very quiet. Unfortunately, today was not one of those days.

20 minutes after I sat down, two teenagers sat behind me. They were quiet at first but after only a minute they started to kiss. I wanted to get security but I felt bad. This was probably the only place they could get away from everything on a Wednesday night.

After they finished kissing, they started conversing loudly. Everyone in the room said, "shhh" but they just kept going and laughed it off. I wasn't actually bothered by how loud they were but by what they were saying. The f-word and s-word came up about 50 times in a span of three minutes. These kids were not only hormone crazy but were extremely rude. I didn't say anything to them because I was curious to hear what they would say next.

These teens talked about random things. The girl went off on how the city wasted its money on the library. She said, "I can't believe people actually read all these f**king books. It's a waste of money. Watch the f**king tv. It's the same s**t, plus it's free." She also went on about how she disliked school. "I hate f**king school. The stupid teacher snitched on me for cutting class. She's f**kin' racist and dumb. I bet she don't know how to roll a blunt."

Then her boyfriend made some comments. "Nah, nah, nah, f**k that bitch. She's just jealous cos she ain't get no play. Anyways, let's grub. I think Mickey D's closes soon. I only got three bucks to my name. S**t, dollar menu here we come."

After hearing that, I gave up. I think I lost some brain cells just listening to their conversation. This just reinforces my belief that education is one of the most important things in life. Educated people do not speak or act in the way these teenagers did today in the library. I hope one day they grow up and get educated or else they will be serving meals at "Mickey D's" rather then just buying off the dollar menu.

  • Parking Spaces

Today, I went to the mall. As usual, there were no open parking spaces close to the Macy’s entrance. It took me three times to drive around the parking lot to finally find a potential parking spot. Right when I was about to turn into it, I slammed on my brakes. Low and behold, a Mazda Miata was parked in what I thought would be my parking spot.

This isn’t the first time this has ha ppened to me. It seems like every time I think I found a parking spot, a Mazda Miata is parked in that space.

The Miata is such a small car that you cannot see it from a certain distance and angle. It just pisses me off when I’m running late for class and the only space that looks available has a Miata parked in it. I’m sure I’m not the only one this has happened to.

I’m sorry if you have a Miata but I think it should be destroyed.
